European Adventure

This summer, I left my job and am taking two months to live with my brother and sister-in-law in Germany. Best decision I've made in a long time.
I left Indianapolis on May 16th and won't be back until July 18th. Plenty of time for traveling and soul searching.

England, Day 5

It's our last day in London! We had a pretty relaxed day today... we had tea this morning with a wonderful lady named Noa. She was Brooke and Elaine's tour guide when they came to Europe back in 2000. It was really interesting to hear her views of England's economy and politics.

After tea, we walked around the markets in Covent Garden. There were a lot of interesting pieces of jewelery and pictures, etc. being sold. We had lunch in the marketplace before heading a few streets over to see The Lion King!

The Lion King was SO GOOD!! I highly recommend that, wherever you are, if it comes through a city near you... GO SEE IT! The costumes and set designs were just absolutely stunning. Brooke and I LOVED it. :)

After the show, we made our way back to the Lancaster Gate Hotel to get our bags. We then took a taxi to the hotel where Elaine was spending her last night before flying back to the States in the morning. We left our bags in her room and went to dinner at a little Italian place called Piccolo Diavolo. It was delicious... especially the limoncello dessert.

After dinner, we walked back to Elaine's room at The St. Giles Hotel, and Brooke and I gathered our bags. We were going to take the Tube to the train station, but the Tube workers happened to be on strike this evening, so we took a taxi instead. Once we got to the train station at Liverpool Street, it was 10pm. The train ride to Stansted Airport was an hour long, and once we got to the airport, we had to take another taxi to our hotel. Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep, considering that we had to be up at 5am to make our 7:15am flight. But we made it back to Germany in one piece! Nate picked us up from Frankfurt Hahn airport, and we crashed when we got home.

We have three days to rest up before the three of us take off for a four day weekend in Paris! I'm so excited for this... I've been waiting for my chance to visit Paris for years! Hopefully we will have an internet connection at our hotel in France so that these updates can come daily. Til then!

  1. Annie, it sounds like you are having a great time! I loved the Lion King when I saw it...although it was in Indy, not quite as exciting as London ;)
