European Adventure

This summer, I left my job and am taking two months to live with my brother and sister-in-law in Germany. Best decision I've made in a long time.
I left Indianapolis on May 16th and won't be back until July 18th. Plenty of time for traveling and soul searching.

Festival in Horbach

On Sunday, the whole village of Horbach shut down.  And I don't just mean that people didn't leave; people weren't ALLOWED to leave, except on foot or by bicycle.  All of the roads were barricaded.  This was true for surrounding towns, too.  We weren't exactly sure what was going on, except that multitudes of cyclists rode from town to town all day.  That left everybody else with one option:  have a big party in the town square! Lots of beer, food, and live music meant that everybody had a good time!

Drinking Radlers! Half beer, half carbonated lemonade.  Fully delicious.

Taking a walk through Horbach.

The town is so beautiful!

Live music, food, and drinks.  What more can you do on a Sunday afternoon?

Frische fried fringles! Kind of a mouthful, but they were delicious.

The inside of the church in Horbach.  It's so ornate and gorgeous.

Pictures are a little blurry since I couldn't use the flash, but it's not too bad.

Our trip to Paris is booked!  We're so excited.... plans so far include the air show, going up the Eiffel Tower at sunset, visiting the Louvre, L'Arc de Triomphe, and le Champs Elycee.  I'm sure we'll end up seeing a lot more than that!

Our next trip, though, is to Luxembourg! I'm really excited about that.  It's supposed to be absolutely gorgeous.

Germany has already way surpassed any expectation that I might have had.  I've been here for a week and already we've seen so much!

More to come!

Annie
